Our Rich Heritage
Built around 1490, this magnificent building has worn many hats over the generations. It has served as a bustling 19th-century bakery, a grocery store, and even a romantic inspiration for historic artists. Today, we have blended this incredible English heritage with authentic Italian passion, creating a unique dining space where the past perfectly complements the timeless flavours of Italy. The Legend of Marmaduke
No historic English townhouse would be complete without its own resident mystery, and ours belongs to Marmaduke. During the early 18th century, the building was the home of a wealthy Buckle family. Their son, Marmaduke, disabled from birth, faced harsh times and was cruelly accused by superstitious locals of practicing witchcraft. Tragically, the torment drove him to take his own life at just 18 years old, but not before he carved his name and dates directly into the first-floor plaster, which is now carefully preserved behind a protective screen.
Marmaduke’s gentle spirit is said to still watch over the building—perhaps keeping an eye out for the mummified cat hidden centuries ago in the attic roof beams to ward off evil spirits!
